1. Introduction
Welcome to DreamMirror.
DreamMirror is a reflective journaling application designed to help people record, revisit and explore their dreams through multiple perspectives over time.
We recognise that dreams are often deeply personal. Protecting your privacy is therefore one of the core principles of this product.
This Privacy Policy explains:
what information we collect;
why we collect it;
how we use it;
how long we keep it;
your rights regarding your information; and
how you can contact us with any questions.
Registered users are asked to accept the current version of this Privacy Policy (together with the Terms & Conditions) before recording or interpreting dreams through an account. Guest users are asked for a local acknowledgement before first dream recording or interpretation on that device. Browsing public pages does not by itself replace those acceptance steps where they apply.
2. Our Privacy Philosophy
DreamMirror was built around one simple principle:
**Your dreams belong to you.**
DreamMirror exists to help you reflect on your dreams—not to claim ownership over them.
We believe you should always understand:
what information is collected;
why it is collected;
who processes it;
how long it is stored; and
how you can remove it.
DreamMirror is designed to give users meaningful control over their own dream archive.
Providing the service sometimes requires technical processing—for example authentication, storage, payments, or AI interpretation. That processing does not change ownership of your dream content or your right to delete it where the product allows.

4. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use DreamMirror, we may process the following information.
Account Information
When you create an account we may process:
email address;
authentication credentials managed by our authentication provider (DreamMirror does not store your password in plain text);
account identifiers and account creation timestamps;
subscription or trial status;
billing customer and subscription identifiers provided by our payment provider (not your full card number);
account preferences (for example Memory Echoes, Pattern Discovery and related settings);
onboarding completion state;
a record of acceptance of the current Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, including acceptance timestamp and the document versions accepted;
limited account-security metadata (for example a password-changed timestamp where recorded).
Dream Archive
When you save dreams to an account archive, DreamMirror may store:
dream descriptions (the dream text you enter or that results from voice transcription you request);
dream dates (including a stable local calendar day used for the Dream Recall Calendar);
dream type (for example dream, nightmare or lucid dream);
importance markers;
archive preferences such as exclusion from Memory Echoes;
reflection question-and-answer pairs associated with an interpretation session;
AI-generated interpretation text associated with a selected lens;
post-reading reflections you choose to save;
daily dream-recall status you choose to report for a date (for example that you remember having dreamed but cannot record the dream, or that you do not remember dreaming that day) — this records what you reported, not whether you objectively dreamed or how you slept;
timestamps related to when dreams were created, updated or removed.
DreamMirror does not maintain a separate free-text “notes” field beyond the content types listed above.
DreamMirror does not use daily recall status as sleep tracking, health diagnosis, dream-frequency analytics, or streak measurement.
AI Requests
When you request a reading of a dream, DreamMirror sends to its AI provider the information needed for that request.
The initial reading uses the dream you are exploring and the interpretation lens you selected, together with the language needed to reply. That first request does not include a reflection you wrote after the reading.
If you choose Further Exploration, that request sends the dream you are exploring, the current reading, the reflection question, and the written response you gave.
If you use Ask about this reading, that request sends those same details and your follow-up question.
Unrelated dreams from your wider archive are not sent as part of these requests.
AI responses for a completed reading may be saved into your Dream Archive when you are signed in. Guest AI responses stay with the current exploration and are not stored as a cloud account archive.
Voice dream capture
When you choose to dictate a dream instead of typing, DreamMirror asks for microphone access only for that action.
Your speech is recorded briefly in the browser and sent to DreamMirror’s servers solely so it can be transcribed into text. Voice transcription always uses OpenAI’s transcription API. That does not change if DreamMirror uses Anthropic (Claude) for written readings and questions.
DreamMirror does **not** intentionally keep the audio recording as part of your account or Dream Archive. The resulting transcription becomes ordinary dream text in the dream-entry field. You can review and edit it before continuing. From that point, the text is handled under the same dream-content rules as typed dreams (including archive storage when you save a dream while signed in).
Voice capture does **not** mean:
that audio never leaves your device (it is sent for transcription);
that the transcription provider retains nothing;
that processing occurs only in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
Provider practices for temporary logging may apply as described under AI Processing.
Subscription Information
Where subscriptions are used, DreamMirror may process:
subscription tier (for example DreamMirror or DreamMirror Plus);
trial status and trial dates;
payment-customer and subscription identifiers from Stripe.
DreamMirror does **not** store your full payment card information.
Payments and card entry are handled by Stripe.
Guest Information
Guest users may explore DreamMirror without creating an account.
Guest use may involve:
temporary in-browser session state for the current exploration;
device-local browser storage for guest experience state (for example a local legal acknowledgement, first-run introduction state, and any guest archive kept only on that device);
a first-party cookie used to enforce Guest AI exploration limits (this cookie does not store dream text).
Guest material is not stored as a permanent DreamMirror cloud account archive. Local browser storage may remain on that device until cleared, and is not a guarantee of long-term backup or access across devices.
Technical and Operational Information
Hosting and authentication infrastructure may process ordinary operational information needed to run the service, such as request handling, authentication session state, and server logs maintained by infrastructure providers.
DreamMirror does **not** currently operate a dedicated product analytics provider, advertising tool, or session-replay tool.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
provide guided reflection questions and dream interpretations you request;
transcribe a dream you choose to dictate into editable dream text;
maintain your Dream Archive when you use an account;
synchronise an authenticated archive across devices where cloud sync is available;
operate trial and subscription access;
record required legal acceptance before account dream recording and interpretation;
protect accounts and the integrity of the service;
investigate technical problems when needed;
comply with legal obligations where applicable.
DreamMirror does **not** sell your personal information.
DreamMirror does **not** currently use a dedicated analytics provider to profile your behaviour for marketing.
6. Lawful Bases for Processing
Where UK data-protection law applies, DreamMirror relies on one or more of the following lawful bases for processing personal information.
Performance of a contract
Where you create an account or use paid subscription features, DreamMirror processes account, archive, trial, subscription and support-related information as needed to provide the service you request.
Legitimate interests
DreamMirror may rely on legitimate interests for limited operational processing needed to run and secure the service—for example authentication sessions, Guest AI limit enforcement, proportionate abuse prevention, and infrastructure reliability—where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Consent
Where DreamMirror asks you to accept the current Terms and Privacy Policy before account dream recording or interpretation, or asks Guests for a local acknowledgement before first exploration, that acceptance records that you have been shown the current documents.
Accepting this Privacy Policy is **not** treated as consent for every processing activity. Other processing may rely on a different lawful basis, such as providing the service you requested.
Legal obligation
DreamMirror may process information where necessary to comply with applicable law—for example responding to a valid legal request or retaining records DreamMirror is required to keep.
The appropriate basis can depend on the specific use. If you have questions about a particular use of your information, contact dreammirrorapp@gmail.com.
7. Dream Content and Sensitive Information
Dream entries are written by you in your own words. Because dreams can touch any part of life, dream text may incidentally include highly personal information and, in some cases, information that data-protection law treats as sensitive—for example references to health, sexuality, religion or belief, political opinions, or ethnicity.
DreamMirror does **not** ask you to classify yourself using those categories in order to use the product.
DreamMirror does **not** intentionally derive, label or store profiles of those sensitive attributes from dream content for marketing, scoring or automated decision-making about you.
Interpretations are reflective perspectives. They are not diagnoses, predictions, or claims of objective psychological truth.
DreamMirror aims to minimise unnecessary processing, keep ownership and deletion controls with you where the product allows, and avoid creating diagnostic profiles.
8. AI Processing
DreamMirror uses artificial intelligence to generate reflective questions and interpretations, to transcribe dreams you choose to dictate, and for related features you request.
When you ask for those features, relevant dream and session content—or, for voice capture, a temporary audio recording—may be processed by a third-party AI provider solely to generate what you requested.
DreamMirror currently uses Anthropic (Claude) for written questions and interpretations. DreamMirror may instead use OpenAI for those written generations. That choice is made internally by DreamMirror. You do not choose the provider in the product.
Voice transcription always uses OpenAI, even when written generations use Anthropic. Audio from dictation is not sent to Anthropic.
Over time, AI providers may change as the service evolves. Providers may be selected based on security, reliability, privacy practices, technical capability, cost sustainability, quality, and alignment with DreamMirror’s values.
Changing AI providers does not change your ownership of your dream archive or the rights described elsewhere in this policy.
If a significant provider change materially affects the service, DreamMirror will inform users where appropriate.
AI processing is used to respond to your request and provide the features you use.
DreamMirror does **not** use AI to:
diagnose mental health conditions;
predict the future;
determine objective truth;
create psychological profiles;
make automated decisions about you that define your identity or legal rights.
Interpretations are intended as reflective perspectives rather than factual conclusions.
### How OpenAI may use API content
According to OpenAI’s current official API documentation for the service DreamMirror uses:
API inputs and outputs are **not** used to train OpenAI models by default;
training use requires the API customer to **explicitly opt in** to data sharing;
DreamMirror does **not** intentionally opt users’ dream content into OpenAI model training;
OpenAI may keep temporary logs of prompts and responses for abuse monitoring, typically for up to **30 days**, subject to OpenAI’s stated exceptions;
DreamMirror does **not** currently claim OpenAI Zero Data Retention for this service.
DreamMirror does **not** promise that OpenAI retains nothing, that processing occurs only in the United Kingdom, or that Zero Data Retention applies.
Provider practices can change. If OpenAI’s terms or DreamMirror’s use of the service change in a material way, this policy should be updated.
### How Anthropic may use API content
When DreamMirror uses Anthropic for written questions or interpretations, the dream and session content needed for that request is sent to Anthropic.
DreamMirror does **not** intentionally opt users’ dream content into Anthropic model training. DreamMirror does **not** currently claim Zero Data Retention for Anthropic.
DreamMirror does **not** promise that Anthropic retains nothing, that processing occurs only in the United Kingdom, or that Zero Data Retention applies. Anthropic processes information according to its own terms.
Provider practices can change. If Anthropic’s terms or DreamMirror’s use of the service change in a material way, this policy should be updated.
9. Dream Archive Storage
Guest Users
Guest users may explore DreamMirror without creating an account.
Guest AI explorations are limited and enforced using a first-party cookie. Dream text is not stored in that cookie.
Any Guest dream material kept on the device is stored locally in the browser for that Guest experience. It is not a DreamMirror cloud account archive, is not synchronised across devices by DreamMirror accounts, and is not guaranteed to remain available if browser storage is cleared or the device changes.
Registered Users
Registered users receive a personal Dream Archive stored with their account and synchronised through DreamMirror’s authenticated cloud storage where available.
The archive allows users to revisit previous dreams and build long-term insight over time.
Trial Accounts
Creating an account begins a free trial of **7 days**.
If the trial ends without an active subscription, the account becomes read-only for new interpretive activity.
The archive remains available in read-only mode for **30 days** after the trial ends, under DreamMirror’s trial archive retention approach.
The account itself is retained. Trial archive retention concerns archive data, not automatic account deletion.
10. Archive Retention
DreamMirror uses two separate archive retention schedules. They must not be confused.
### Never-subscribed Trial — 30 days
DreamMirror retains read-only dream archives for **30 days** after a free trial ends without an active subscription.
This applies to trial users who never subscribe. It does **not** apply to former paid subscribers.
During the retention period:
the archive remains available in read-only mode;
users may browse and search their archive;
users may export their archive where export is available in the product (currently as a downloadable archive file);
users may delete individual dreams or their entire account at any time.
DreamMirror’s Trial retention approach includes **one reminder email** approximately **7 days** before an inactive trial archive is scheduled for permanent deletion. The reminder email and automatic archive deletion processes for Trial accounts are **not currently active**. Until they are enabled, you should not rely on receiving a reminder email. If you wish to keep your dreams, please export them or subscribe during the retention period.
When those processes are enabled, if no subscription is started by the end of the 30-day period, the inactive trial archive is intended to be **permanently deleted**, while the account may remain.
### Former paid subscribers — 12 months
When a paid DreamMirror or DreamMirror Plus subscription ends, the account becomes read-only and the archive is retained for **12 months**. This is longer than the Trial schedule because a paying user may have built a substantial personal journal.
DreamMirror intends to give advance email notice before permanent former-paid archive deletion. The automated reminder and automatic deletion processes for former paid subscribers are **not currently active**. Until they are enabled, you should not rely on receiving a reminder; please export or resubscribe during the retention period if you wish to keep your dreams.
Account deletion is a separate user-initiated process and is not the same as subscription cancellation or archive retention.
Further detail is in the Subscription & Billing Policy.
Please keep your account email address up to date so DreamMirror can contact you when retention reminders are enabled.
11. Legal Acceptance
For registered accounts, DreamMirror stores a record when you accept the current Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. That record includes:
that each document was accepted;
the versions accepted;
the time of acceptance.
If an account has no matching record for the current document versions, DreamMirror asks for acceptance again before normal dream recording or interpretation through that account. Completing an older product introduction alone is not treated as proof of current legal acceptance.
For Guest users, DreamMirror may store a device-local acknowledgement of the current Terms and Privacy versions before first dream recording or interpretation on that device. That Guest acknowledgement is not stored as an account-level consent record in DreamMirror’s cloud systems.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
access your information;
correct inaccurate information;
export your Dream Archive where the product provides export;
delete individual dreams;
delete your account;
request deletion of your data;
object to certain processing activities;
withdraw consent where consent is the applicable basis.
### Deletion in DreamMirror
**Individual dreams:** you may delete dreams from your archive where the product allows.
**Entire account:** account deletion permanently removes your authentication account and associated personal archive data. This is immediate and permanent. There is no recovery or cooling-off period. A deleted account and its dreams cannot be restored. Permanent account deletion also ends an active DreamMirror subscription, so that subscription does not continue to renew.
**Trial archive retention:** after trial expiry without a subscription, archive data may later be removed under the retention approach described above, while the account may remain.
**Subscription cancellation** is separate from account deletion. Cancelling paid access does not by itself delete your account.
Where required by law, DreamMirror will comply with applicable privacy legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
13. Data Security
DreamMirror uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect user information.
These include secure authentication, encrypted communication in transit, and access controls appropriate to the service.
No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Users should also take appropriate steps to protect their own accounts.
14. Third-Party Services
DreamMirror relies on trusted third-party providers to operate the service.
Current providers include:
**Supabase** — authentication, account information and cloud dream-archive storage for registered users. DreamMirror’s Supabase project is currently configured in AWS `eu-west-1` (Ireland). That does **not** mean all processing is guaranteed to remain only in Ireland, only in the EU, or only in the United Kingdom;
**Resend** — delivery of authentication and related transactional email (the current sender uses the verified `dreammirrorapp.com` domain);
**OpenAI** — generation of guided questions and dream interpretations when OpenAI is the active generation provider, and transcription of dreams you choose to dictate (see AI Processing and Voice dream capture above). Voice transcription always uses OpenAI;
**Anthropic** — generation of guided questions and dream interpretations when Anthropic (Claude) is the active generation provider. Anthropic is not used for voice transcription;
**Stripe** — subscription checkout and billing. DreamMirror does **not** store your full payment card details;
**Vercel** — hosting, deployment and related operational infrastructure for the DreamMirror application. Vercel is not used here as a dedicated behavioural or marketing analytics provider.
DreamMirror does **not** currently use a dedicated product analytics provider.
Each provider processes information according to its own terms and privacy practices, and any applicable arrangements with DreamMirror.
DreamMirror sends only the categories of information needed for the relevant service:
to Supabase: account authentication data, preferences and legal-acceptance records, profile and subscription fields, and archived dream content for signed-in users;
to Resend: email addresses and the authentication message content needed to deliver signup, recovery and related Auth emails;
to OpenAI: the dream and session content required for a requested written AI feature when OpenAI is the active generation provider, and temporary audio solely when you request voice transcription, as described above;
to Anthropic: the dream and session content required for a requested written AI feature when Anthropic is the active generation provider; not audio;
to Stripe: identifiers and plan information needed to start or manage a subscription (card details are entered with Stripe);
to Vercel: ordinary application traffic and operational information needed to host and run the product.
### International processing
International processing or transfers may occur when DreamMirror uses these providers.
DreamMirror’s providers may process information according to their own infrastructure and terms. DreamMirror does **not** promise that all processing remains only in the United Kingdom, only in Ireland, or only in the EU.
DreamMirror can control what it sends and what it stores in its own product systems. It cannot rewrite a provider’s independent retention, security or training practices merely by describing them here.
15. Cookies and Browser Storage
DreamMirror uses first-party cookies and browser storage needed for the product to work.
These currently include:
authentication session storage (depending on whether you choose to stay signed in);
a first-party Guest AI limit cookie;
local browser storage for preferences, onboarding state, Guest legal acknowledgement, and local or cached archive data as applicable;
short-lived session state used for ordinary interface behaviour (for example focusing the dream input after onboarding).
DreamMirror does **not** currently set advertising cookies or dedicated analytics cookies.
A separate Cookie Policy may be introduced later if needed.
16. Children's Privacy
DreamMirror is intended for adults aged **18 years or older**.
DreamMirror is not directed at children, and DreamMirror does not knowingly create accounts for users under 18.
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 18 without appropriate authorisation, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
DreamMirror may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When significant changes are made, users will be informed through appropriate means where reasonably possible.
Where registered users must accept a new Privacy Policy version before continuing dream recording or interpretation, DreamMirror will present that acceptance step for the current version.
The latest version will always be available within the application and on the DreamMirror website.

Summary
At the heart of DreamMirror is a simple promise:
**Your dreams belong to you.**
DreamMirror exists to help you explore them—not to own them, exploit them or define what they mean.
You remain in control of your dream archive, your account and your personal information.
Our goal is to provide a thoughtful and trustworthy place where people can reflect on one of the most personal forms of human experience.
